First CP6 £645M Major Deal is Done
The first major contracts for CP6 (Control Period 6) have been awarded by Network Rail. Their combined deal, announced via Rail Technology Magazine, is worth a staggering £645M. However, this is just a small dent in the entire investment which has now been raised to £48bn by the DfT.

Liverpool Prepares for 2043
After the brief closure on Saturday night, Liverpool Lime Street station reopened yesterday morning after enhancement work including equipment upgrades and the construction of two new platforms. Network rail is quoted to have said the project is a part of a "£340m transformation" with Managing Director, Martin Frobisher justifying the disruption as a future concern, claiming "passenger figures are set to double during peak periods in 2043".
Making Derby's Model Station
Back in August, Rail Engineer reported on the plans for Derby's £198 million-pound project to re-model and re-signal Derby station. David Bickell shared in his article "79 days at Derby in 2018" that the development, managed by Network Rail's Project Director Chris Hannah, will "be undertaken during a 79 day' partial closure from 21 July to 8 October 2018
